Bridger,

I hope that you enjoy the king cake.

It sounds like the women from your church brought over lots of delicious food. Everyone knows and appreciates how much you loved your dad.

Your father was well loved in your community. He will always be remembered.

Earlybird,
Raisin Bran is okay to forget. We are eating some of our emergency food also, so it won't expire. No one could eat that much oatmeal on purpose!
I just want a steak, even right now!

Llama,
How many Llamas do you see? 🦙️🦙️🦙️🦙️🦙️🦙️🦙️🦙️🦙️🦙️
Hope your eyes will be great, very soon!

Bridger,
When you said it like that, "I had a visitation this evening" it confused me----thinking we were on the paranormal thread again, Lol.
So nice of the church friends to be there for you.

Beatty: Thank you so much! When I FINALLY got a bed after having waited to be seen, the staff nurse at about 6 A.M. (after hearing from me that my dinner was 2 cinnamon buns from the ER waiting room vending machine with a nutritional value of zero), said "Here is the ER dinner special." I was SO grateful to have a turkey sandwich, saltines, graham crackers and iced water. Took care of one health problem and two more popped up. Ugh. I need to see my opthamologist for possible revision on left eye and need to be seen by my dentist as a multi unit bridge is failing.
Thank you again. I appreciate your kind words.♥️

Had visitation this evening. Church circle ladies brought us dinner. Also set up coffee, cookies and sandwiches at funeral home. I ate too much. So much food has been dropped off. Too many good cakes and pies.

I have a chicken leg, some leftover mashed potatoes and a big pile of frozen veggies in the toaster oven with a blueberry cobbler for dessert. Unfortunately I was starving at 4 o'clock and poured myself the last of the wine that has been sitting in the back of the fridge since my friends and I last got together (in Nov) and now I'm not really hungry any more.

Belgium is ranked 81 for world obesity (I don't need to depress us looking up US, UK & Aus stats..) Maybe their diet is good, ja?

Earlybird, I lost some of my sweet teeth in my 20's. Forced myself to go cold turkey on sugar in tea & coffee & swap cake for veggie quiche more.

But still have a Christmas Cake sweet tooth!

And in holidays that wine tooth becomes a problem... 🍷🍸🍹

Today is the first day for King Cake in New Orleans!

Not even a pandemic is stoping the sale of our delicious king cakes!

Socially distant long lines all over the city.

Of course, we won’t have Mardi Gras this year but I love how people are decorating their homes like floats!

Mardi Gras 2022 will be great!

Well this is a New Year and will start eating healthier. Wish I could continue on the path of eating healthy during the holidays but seems almost out of the question with my sweet tooth. I will keep trying.
Tofu with spinach and bell pepper scramble, rye toast, plant-based smart bacon. Blueberry coffee with light cream.

I have lost 25 lbs since covid arrived, most of it stress I am sure. 4 more LBS as of today( this week_) when we placed Mom on hospice. I was hungry for chinese,, hubs went and got some,, and I was able to eat some so that is good. Mom ate a yogurt for breakfast, and about 4 bites of chinese. Her morphine seems to be doing nothing for her breathing, so I will give her another dose and an ativan before bed,,hopefully she will sleep and so will we! They said we can give all 3 of her new meds together, but I would rather give 2 and see how it goes.

Glad,

That’s exactly what my daughter is concerned about. She doesn’t want to upset the neighbors.

She wants the dog to be content. She has toys for him. He’s still considered to be a puppy. He’s still growing. He’s about 40 lbs. He will eventually reach 60 lbs.

I don’t know much about the Siberian Husky breed concerning separation anxiety.

She has a vet appointment so hopefully the vet can help her out with what to do.

NHWM, barking dog in an apartment will never work. There are many doggy day cares in Denver.

Sous vide isn't high on my list of things I'm anxious to try - well.... except maybe if somebody else cooked for me 😉

"NHWM,"

Yes, your daughter will definitely need to figure something out before she does have to work away from home 8 hours a day since she lives in an apartment. Her surrounding neighbors might not be tolerant of the barking and/or jumping around they may hear from below!

Hopefully, the vet will give her good tips in handling the problem. If he can't or doesn't, she can talk with an obedience dog trainer as another option.

NGI,

My daughter is working remotely from home due to COVID. I hope that she can help her dog cope so when she does have to work away for 8 hours he will be okay.

She made an appointment for him with a vet to see if he has any suggestions for her.

Oh yes, my mini schnauzer was something else! She thought she ran the show. She was cute but quite a pepper!

"NHWM,"

I bet you were "soooo" disappointed to have to trash your melted plastic/food and order up a pizza!

I didn't know schnauzers were yip yappers! Our Doxie has quite a bark that makes it seem like she's bigger than she is. She looks like "lealonnie's" avatar - I told her they could be almost twins except mine doesn't wear a tiara but, she acts like she wears one!

Yes, greyhounds look very calm and serene.

I have a feeling a lot of dogs will or have already developed separation anxiety from the COVID pandemic. Although our doxie is deaf, I was always on the go and no problems. Now, that I'm home all the time except for a few errands and visiting my mom she goes on a barking spree. She knows when I put my shoes on and spray my hair with hairspray that I'm going somewhere. My husband has been working from home since the lockdown and it drives him nuts. I can't even leave the room to go to the bathroom and I mean that literally! Maybe your daughter can look up techniques used for the issue - I haven't had time to check it out and it may be different having an elderly, deaf dog. I do remember one of the things they say is to put something down with your smell on it so they feel like you're there with them.

"cwillie" - I had never heard of "sous vide" but I looked it up - supposedly there's debate as to whether it's a safe cooking method. I don't know but, with my husband looking over my shoulder I still wouldn't get away with it!

Report

cwille,

Yes! My husband is really looking forward to trying out that method.

He knows someone that does cooking in that style and swears by it.

I will post on it when we try it.
