The ants came in out of the rain the other day. I have been fighting ant wars. Today, opened a cupboard, and there was a new swarm.

So we ate out at a fast food place....Southwest Salad to go.

Need to go check if they got into the cocoa yet. Hot chocolate before bed.

Christmas is cancelled at my house. No expectations.

Mom had a proper dinner but I'm munching on the Christmas cheese ball stuffed into celery sticks and very cold key lime soda water while watching football. Thinking about a "desert" of the Christmas fudge with coffee, maybe a piece each of the peanut butter, butterscotch, and chocolate.

pamzimmrrt, my family loves banana bread but I've never made the chocolate chip variety. I have a few bananas left after baking banana bread for Mom's adult day care and I think I'm going to make some chocolate chip for tomorrow's Sunday dinner.

Well its not dinner, but I made 4 loaves of chocolate chip banana bread for the the Christmas meal at work, and the house ( read Hubs and neighbors.. LOL ) Hubs picked up a meal from the hot food counter at our local small IGA, and we are all sharing that for dinner.. they give you a ton. Mom wanted the scalloped potatoes and hubs and I will share the swiss steak and green beans. I am on "soft food" until my dental work on the 30th in an effort to keep my very very loose baby tooth in place until then. I still have to make the caramel Danish logs for holiday morning, and one for work.. but I am holding off until the morning of the 24th ( I have to work Christmas so we have moved everything up one day)

Smeshque,
Put fruit in a blender...blueberries, bananas, strawberries, greek yogurt, milk, small amount of ice cream. Share the smoothie with just you and Mom. It will be pink.
Tell everyone else it is just medicine for Mom.

Drink up. The cold will anesthetize your mouth.

i took 4 of them to an old neighbor and his wife . they werent home yet so i gave em to wifes twin sis . i'll bet they get home to two donuts ( if theyre lucky ) .

Captain, I agree. I used a mug for many years in my office that said:

"Eat fiber!
Exercise hard!
DIE ANYWAY!"

sometimes we just have to feed our tastes and not nutrition levels.

Most importantly is feeding our souls.

Isthisreal-
Thank you. I enjoy cooking. You are welcome anytime.
However, I think the vote here would be to eat at your house. :)

My mouth is still hurting and the Dr. said it was going to hurt for a while as it heals. 3 pains I could live without, head, mouth and stomach.
I look forward to the day I wake up and realize, Oh it doesn't hurt today, then I am also thinking what I am going to want to eat that day. DH asked me, what do you want to eat when your mouth heals? I am thinking,,,,,,,,

Smeshque-I want to eat at your house. You sound like a fabulous cook and have the greatest menus.

Homemade corndog with home smoked wieners, drooling 🤤

How is your mouth? Feeling better?

They had homemade corndogs using our smoked beef hot dogs. Western style beans, and a white cheddar mac n cheese, finished off the cobbler

I had tomato soup with some smoked sharp cheddar melted in it, super good.
I am probably going to be on a liquid diet for a few days .

Used up the glorious leftovers, 1/2 can crushed pineapple, 1 cup of cream of broccoli soup, last 4-5 slices of ham, served over a biscuit and left over Bob's Red Mill Instant mashed potatoes. Enough for the two of us. MMM Good.

my last donuts were almost as much fruit as flour . its no wonder they remained moist .

my whole wheat breadsticks always responded well to a minute in the microwave .

it is interesting that i canned barely ripe pears 3 yrs ago and they have sat in the jars and ripened . shame i wasted a bunch of them making wine .

captain, a lot of bread products are better the next day if you use a skillet to heat them up and restore some crunch to the outer bread layer. Try placing your pizza slice or flitter/donut/pie slice into a warm skillet with low to medium heat and cover; keep covered until warmed through (for single crust) or a little more than half (for double surface/crust) before turning and re-covering. When warmed through, remove cover for another couple of minutes to add a little more crispiness to the crust. I also use a 250 degree oven for larger quantities, turning every 10 minutes until as "done" as we like. The oven is never as good as the skillet for pizza, but often works better for anything you can turn over.

today's my day off and its crazy cold outside . ive vetoed going anywhere and im going to make a ham / egg noodle / pea conconction . too cheap to but cream of mushroom soup and besides i dont like unnecessary calories added to anything anyway .

a fellow at work said since im alone this season i should buy or do something nice for myself . i ordered a 7 dollar digital auto clock from ebay and i cant imagine a better treat than some homemade apple fritter donuts for christmas . the last ones were made with canned pears by accident and were sinfully good the next day . thats unusual for a homemade bread product .
