I love Horseradish!

Kellse,
I love Arby's Horsey sauce, a creamy, slightly sweet horseradish sauce. Great on sliced beef sandwiches.

Don't they have little baby sandwiches now on dinner rolls called sliders? (someone does). Two healthy bites in roast beef and/or turkey-$1.50 each. Good for on the go.

McDonalds puts cheese on everything, even the fish sandwich, so I'm one of those people who sometimes asks for no cheese... 80 useless calories saved for something better.

I was ordering at a fast food restaurant. "Meal #2." {Deluxe cheeseburger with fries and small drink} ..... Cashier asked,"with cheese?" ... I stared at her puzzled, looked at the menu board to make sure Meal #2 was the Cheeseburger meal. Yes, it is - Cheeseburger.... I looked at the cashier and replied, "I ordered Meal #2 - it says that it's a CHEESEBURGER meal. Why are you asking if I want cheese on it?" .... Her response, "Some people order that meal & ask for no cheese."

My dH is maybe allergic to peanuts. He knows not to eat them.
So his brother sent assorted nuts called Pecosos Hot.
His nose broke out today. His nose knows, and told on him.

When asked why he ate them, he said he was hungry.

"Cream of whatever" soup... I like that description, it's fitting for baking with condensed soups.

My pork chops didn't come out so fabulous, though they're solidly edible. They were tougher than I thought they would be even though I seared only for a minute on each side then baked in a dish with chicken stock. I thought the liquid would keep them softer but not so much this time. I should've put the veggies in the same dish and baked it together, I think. I should also use a meat thermometer and check the interior temp so I don't err on the side of thorough cooking by doing another 15 minutes in the oven. Ha. They were likely cooked through long before I took them out.

Tonight I'm having my usual - a greens/veggies salad with some beans and tuna for protein. It sits well with me, so it's my most common home meal.

Madge, I know what you mean about looking at what you bought at the store in your freezer, frig, pantry, and deciding you want none of it. :-P

I make pork chops with stuffing on top of them, similar to the potatoe idea. Pork chops, a can of cream of whatever soup, and the ( make it first) stuffing on top. Cover with foil and bake. Yummo!! Tonight it's a Costco chicken we picked up while getting gas!!

Meallen,
I've made butter chicken (my favorite with Basmati rice and peas) but is there a 'non-butter' chicken recipe too?

Indian food is my all time favorite. I could eat it 3 times a week. It's so flavorful. I'd love to learn how to cook it from a professional chef.

Dana,
I had to laugh when I read your last line. But, you're right, cooking IS a spectator sport. Programs like Iron chef, Rachael Ray, etc. are very popular. The Food Network has great ratings.

I like to cook (and eat) and I love inventing new things. I love making recipes that I can't "taste" in my mind because of the weird ingredients or mixtures.

My Mexican husband says I don't cook Mexican food (mostly HIS job) authentically. No, I say, I cook it BETTER!
Why would anyone want to have to debone and saw away at a piece of chicken, covered with thick black mole sauce, at the table, to inevitably splatter it all over your white shirt and yellow tablecloth?
I debone it and semi shread the chicken, return it to the sauce where it soaks up the flavor and is much easier to serve and eat. He likes it better too but has to tell me that "real" mole isn't made that way.
No, but you're sure shoving MY mole in your mouth at lightening fast speed!

Don't feel bad if cooking isn't your thing. You have other talents that are more interesting than throwing food into a pot.

Ali,
I make a dish you might like.
Use smoked pork chops, put in the bottom of a greased casserole. (Now the easy part), in a bowl, make a box of whatever type of potato dish you like; scalloped, au gratin, etc,.
Pour it over pork chops. Bake for whatever time the potatoes need. Last 5 minutes, top with cheddar flavored French fried onion pieces. (The ones you use for the Thanksgiving green bean casserole). I let it sit a few minutes to "firm up" then use a spatula to scoop pork chop and potatoes out at the same time.

Don't add salt because the smoked chops are slightly salty and so are the potatoes. Easy and yummy. 😋

Second day at the cafe, no stomach ache, all is well. I came home and am making pork chops... even though I don't need to cook since I work for restaurant now... but I'd had them defrosting in refrigerator since Sunday (maybe Saturday?), so time to cook them.

I'm not at all sure that this batch will turn out great, but hopefully will be edible. I had 4 chops that I seared then put in glass baking dish and put a cup of chicken stock in with it and that's baking at 350. In a separate casserole dish I chopped several onions and put in 2 different kinds of cans of seasoned diced tomatoes. Usually I would put everything in one dish to bake, but ran out of room in first dish, so I used two. AM I DOING THIS RIGHT? lol I could stand to pick up some tips from the kitchen at work. I'm more comfortable doing stovetop preparations than I am with baking or anything in the oven.

Edit:  The food has been in oven about 15-20 minutes and I'm wondering if I should combine the veggies (chopped onions and cans of diced tomatoes) in the one dish into the larger baking dish that the chops are in.  Isn't part of the reason you put it all together in the oven is because juices and liquids from the veggies help stew the meat?  I've never before done separate cooking dishes in the oven.  I think my brain is talking me into combining them and cooking low and slow for as long as I think is appropriate.  I haven't ruined a dish in a long time, fingers crossed. Re-edit:  It looks fine in the 2 separate dishes.  It might be too much liquid in one, so keeping in 2.

What is this news, CM, what state has it happened in?

Cocoa is a good menu item anywhere, but seems a bit strange for In N Out, only because... they don't have anything but hamburgers, fries, and shakes on their menu. If they add cocoa, do they add orange juice, too? Milk? Chocolate milk? Where does it end? lol

Madge, you know what In N Out has on the menu at all times because you're the unofficial ambassador to the rest of the nation who has no In N Out. :'-(

I had linguine with lobster sauce for lunch and dinner yesterday, from the restaurant I'm working in now.  It was very tasty but I had a bad stomach ache last night.  I hope it was a one-off, a coincidence.  *nervous laughter*

Have a good day, people!
