Kazzaa, too funny about eating outside of the house. Don't you just love when doctors play God with your life? Maybe he would like to care for your mum for a week. I bet he'd be throwing pills at you then!

I'm not cooking chicken livers, just so you know... :-P There's three days of lengthy doc appointments this week for dad, but you have to pass right by me to get anywhere into the city of Chicago from Indiana, so I look forward to seeing you and ike. And if anyone else is coming to Chicago, well by all means, stop by and have a cup of tea/coffee with me in South Holland. :-)

Oh. My. Goodness. Dinner was goooood! Copper River Sockeye Salmon, grilled with orange marmalade/ginger/Dijon sauce, baked Yukon potato, roasted Brussels sprouts, and honey roasted carrots. Awesome!

I only cooked half of the large salmon fillet. Now I have to decide whether to freeze the rest or have a rerun tomorrow ...

Ohhh. just googled goulash. Actually Jeanne, the ingredients sounds sooo much better than the one I have. The goulash even has tomato and not just only the sauce. I'm watching the YouTube on doing it. I always thought I was suppose to saute the onions first, then throw in the meat, etc... from the Youtube, I cook the beef 10 min., add the onions, etc... I like to research on the Youtube and see other people's reviews. Now I know why some recipe has soy sauce and others don't have it but mentions Worcestershire sauce. If you don't have the Worcestershire, the you can use soy sauce. Hmmmm... Thanks, Jeanne. I will make the goulash version instead. with mushrooms in it. And olives as garnish.

he he .
book reminds me of the simpsons episode where homer forms the hells satans motorcycle club , runs into the real hells satans out of bakersfield . the real bikers are camped in homers house one morning and all of em are trying to scrounge up breakfast . one fellow is cramming a couple of eggs in the toaster with his fist . not very kitchen savvy , that one ..
im not dead dusty , but mildly annoyed . cousin sharon dumped the responsibility of edna onto me yet she just runs the roads and plays bean - go .
anyone who cant even pronounce bingo probably isnt worth trying to get something out of .

Ah, book, you are going to make Midwest Goulash. Sure, you can add mushrooms. To be an authentic Midwest hot dish they should be canned, but please, please, don't do that! It is OK to update a little. I'd keep the olives on the side. If you are leaving out the green pepper (perfectly OK to do) but you'd like a little crunch in your hot dish, use chopped celery instead.

Have it your way ...

Book, I would not add olives, the flavor from the olives may overwhelm the flavor to say nothing of the additional salt. The mushrooms may be a good idea. What about olives as a garnish? But then I do not like olives unless they are stuffed with blue cheese and garnish to my Bloody Mary on Sunday afternoon.

Assandy, THAT is American chop suey? I stared at the photos. Uhm... that's not chop suey. If you google Asian chop suey, now THAT is what I call a chop suey. I don't like chop suey. To me, that American chop suey is Macaroni and Beef.. you know like how you all like 'Macaroni & Cheese'.... So why call it chop suey just because you now use beef and not cheese? That label is just as misleading as 'Salisbury steak' or that 'boiled raisin cake'.

All well.. I won't do free hand while cooking this American chop suey the first time. Per the beginner's cookbook, cook according to the recipe. And then next time, I can alter it. What they don't understand is - if I don't like it the first time, I'm not about to try it again.

Since you've tried this before, do you think my throwing in mushrooms and/or olives will alter it drastically? I just googled a photo of what it is. It looks awfully plain. sigh... I need to remember to keep to the original recipe. How about just adding olives????

I visited sis today. Brought home some chicken stoufou (?spelling?). I think she put vinegar, soy sauce and cut up some fresh hot red peppers to make it spicy hot. If oldest sis doesn't finish it, that will be my dinner.

I'm off next week. Decided to give oldest sis Tues/Thursday off from babysitting. So, I've decided this is a good time to cook real food. I opened one of my many "new" Simple cookbooks, just opened to a page, and there it is: Skillet Macaroni & Beef. I think I will make that on Tuesday. I just need to buy ground beef, garlic powder, onion, (forget the green pepper- my tummy doesn't like it), tomato sauce, worcestershire sauce and elbow macaroni. Of all the 10 ingredients, I only have 3 (salt, pepper and water.)

Kazzaa, go stick pins in a little shrink doll, send all your bad voodoo to the doll and try to get a good nights sleep. or go to Amazon and get Dr. Freud's Therapy Ball (similar to Dr. Sigmund Owl toy). You'll get better answers from the ball than you will with a PhD.

Sallie, would you mind sharing your Greek salad recipe? I ask because I've been looking to recreate my Greek grandfather's salad of mostly onion, tomatoes, and feta, and I'm not sure what kind of seasoning/dressing. Well, I saw your post, and am just curious how you make yours. :-)
