Sorry to say, but this site has been so depressing for a few days. I thought I'd ask an average, everyday question....to make us all feel a little more normal today.
I made Eggplant Lasagna, and my BIL and SIL are coming for dinner. They leave for Cali tomorrow to see their beautiful grand daughter.
Sorry, sometimes we just need some REGULAR conversation.......or at least THIS caregiver does.
I gave each boarder a cookbook and asked them to pick one recipe. Tonight we had Barb's pick, a wild rice salad with ham, pepper cheese, lots of veggies, and a dressing made with curry powder and dry mustard. We all liked it well enough to put it on the repeat list.
For dessert we had croissant, split, slathered with Nutella, and willed with fresh raspberries. Awesome.
I get the skinless, boneless ones in olive oil -YUM. Some good Omega-3s in there! Of course, I have to eat them outside, because they drive Mom nuts. LOL
squeeze em , squirt the crap out and cram em in jars .
not really rocket science .
i ended up with 11 quarts . by dam thats 22 pints . one jar broke right away . still 10 quarts will do a lot of baking next winter .
i have a little root cellar attached to the side of this house but ive been with mom for 6 years and the cellar isnt complete with door and insulation yet .
ill get there ..
now i need a hot plate in the garage so i dont heat up the bunker canning .
son wrote to me , goin to chicago in a few days to see the grandbabies . probably jam up there on ike. ill steer clear around marion IN and judge haas .

how difficult is it to pit fresh cherries / whats a good technique ?
have a friend with a loaded tree full of ripe cherries . i could reach a million of em by standing in my trk bed .

i hate agriculture as much as henry ford did but i do enjoy playing around on this customers farm and there are years of stone projects in the future around there .
there are benefits . he has a nice shop with a car lift , firewood , a bulldozer , dump trucks , bob cat , and eventually beef , lamb , goat meat .
hes a genius with his high end home building -- i love stoning them .
meanwhile , back at hitlers bunker , im reheating week old beans .
im going to a metal fest in germany in 2 years if i have to eat weeds every day between now and then..
