Hm, maybe if I had made a white sauce with Italian seasoning for my veggies it would have been better (although I usually love my veggies just as they are)

I made my first attempt at a white sauce with Creole season and garlic. I added small shrimp, corn, instant mash potatoes for thickening (added too much water and frozen corn), and finally Penne pasta. It was good.

My dinner was a big disappointment, I made a stir fry of veggies and served them over polenta with parmesan and mozzarella but it was bland and sad ☹️

Now I'm hungry. Golden, Daisy yummy!

Daisy, we love our mini split units. We have duct work (that we sealed after installing minis) but those things make central air feel like ceiling fans. Ours are both air and heat and we can't figure out why they aren't in all new construction. Easy to install, easy to care for, keeps rooms exactly the temp you want and energy efficient.

Golden, nice to see you! I had smashed potatoes, some new potatoes, comes in a bag , you put it in the microwave for 7 minutes, then smash them. They are delicious!! Ribs pre seasoned and easy and 🌽 and 🍅

Been cleaning, and cleaning, super tired and a bit sore!!

Finally a break today from the humidity, so nice to have a day without the ACs on. Probably going to get a mini split next year. Can't take the noise from the window ACs, and not fun for hubs to take them in and out. I would love central air, but that would cost a fortune, because we don't have any duct work.

Golden yes, from the Thousands islands!

We had a lot of fun, a couple of boat tours, to islands, stopped and went in Bolt Castle. Had a fun small tour with 2 other couples. Lots of restaurants, and learned all about the history of the Gilded age and the
Artistics.

Hey Way. Sounds like fun! We had some fun movie-watching times when the kids were young and even up to when the first grandchild was about 8. Thx for the reminder. Then they went their own ways.

cw - The other day I was thinking it was time for cherries.

Ribs tonight with corn and beans. I will make some spicy corn bread too and a big green salad with mandarins and walnuts. Jellied salad for dessert.

Cwillie, I agree, support local farms and enjoy the freshest produce available.

Hopefully the cherries are just late starters and when they do show up they will be better for it :-)

I have been waiting for local cherries to hit the supermarket but I'm starting to think all we're going to get are imports. Not that there's anything wrong with Washington cherries but I'd rather support local farmers.

Leftover smoked chicken with steamed cauliflower. Fruit salad for dessert.

Oh my, the cherries are so delicious! We just got the 1st batch and I am praying that they will be as good throughout the season.

I make small batches of preserves to enjoy out of season and the cherry preserves from last season were wonderful on vanilla ice cream this winter, especially with some dark chocolate.

I was thinking of cranberries - with the orange and cinnamon maybe also cloves and nutmeg it would make a great dessert bread. R always likes a little cayenne added to anything. Thx -good ideas!!!

Sorry, I forgot about the allergy.

The whole orange sounds delish. Oh, some orange, cranberries and cinnamon, a desert bread, yummo!

Thx ITRR. Cheese would be great but I am allergic to all dairy. I was thinking of adding some chilis. Olives are good and also rosemary. I used to grind up an orange, peel and all, and add it to cornbread. It keeps it very moist and adds flavour.

Golden, a sharp cheddar mixed in helps amp flavor with a small amount or you can use mild green chili and corn to make it kinda like a spoon/pudding bread put a handful of cheddar cheese to change it up. Kalamata olives add an amazing kick.

Herbs are great for amping up bread. Love rosemary and olive oil.

Chipotle powder with some white cheddar makes a great combo.

Just some ideas.

Love, love, love homemade cranberry sauce with turkey and chicken. Mmmmgooood!

Stir fry is always good and healthy. Garlic and ginger always!!!

Had left over frozen turkey dinner here yesterday and home made cranberry sauce. I'm sorting out the freezers and it's cool days this week. Sent the rest of it off with R to the farm for a quick meal for him.

Found a good gluten free, dairy free corn (like) low carb bread mix. Great texture and very moist. I'll have to figure out how to ramp up the flavour without adding lots of carbs.

Woke up to 65 F (18C) this morning. Fresh!!!

Daisy, doing a stir fry sounds good, I like to add garlic and ginger, adds great flavor and LOTS of immunity boosting nutrients.

We are going to smoke some chicken, hot dogs and a ham. Yippee! No cooking for me all weekend and next week just prepping different veggies to fill the meal. Love holiday weekends!

God Bless America!

A friend used to make the BEST chicken & broccoli risotto. Slow cooked, with chicken stock ladled in gradually while we chatted & drank red wine. Big shavings of grated fresh parmasan cheese & a few torn fresh basil leaves on top. Voila!
