Is the guardian guilty of the abuse and financial exploitation? Was the guardian appointed by the court? If so, you can report this person. Actually, yearly this person must show how the wards money has been spent. No personal gains.

How are you related to this person? Because, if this person is entitled to any Vet benefits, the guardian should be filing for them. If the person is in LTC on Medicaid, they cannot get Aid and Attendance, maybe $90 towards PNA, Personal Needs Acct. If already in care, not sure what benefits this person could get. And if on Medicaid, they have no money. SS and pensions go to their care. Any money before Medicaid has to be spent down. And Medicaid looks at finances to make sure every cent went to the care of tge person applying. They would find any financial exploitation.

Speak with the VA itself; ask to speak to social worker or representative when you call. I am not certain how much of the fine detail of our lives and circumstances are registered and worked on. But if anyone can help with information it would be a local VA Social Worker.

I hope other will have better outreach for you, but I haven't a clue.

You give us few details; that makes it very difficult for caregivers to respond with ideas, but I would ALSO run this past your local APS for options (Adult Protective Services). I wish you the best of luck.

What kind of benefits? Ones specifically for veterans?

Are you saying the veteran is now destitute due to the financial abuse?

Is the legal guardian a family member, or a court-assigned third party one?

More information for context would be helpful.
