Find Care & Housing
It goes with marriage: They get sick, you take care of them. You get sick, they take care of you. Nowhere is it written that a spouse gets paid for nursing care!

As a social worker told me when I began caregiving my husband, "Your life is over. You're a caregiver now." She had previously asked me lots of questions about what I usually did every day, my hobbies, and how I spent most of my time.

She was right.

Its hard for a Spouse to get paid for caring for the other spouse. Medicaid may pay but there is an income limit. If he is a Vet, try the VA. Aid and Attendance is only for those who were serving during Wartime. Call your County VA dept and make an appointment to talk to the rep.

Surviving Spouse: up to $1,558 per month
Single Veteran: up to $2,424 per month
Married Veteran: up to $2,874 per month
Two Married Veterans (Both Qualified): up to $46,143 annually

Well....your spouse can pay you out of their pocket, or if on Medicaid they often will pay a family member a few hours a week to look after a loved one, or if your spouse is a veteran the VA pays for aid and attendance if your loved one qualifies for that.
