We recently had a ramp put in his mobile home since he is unable to walk. It was done by Saws ramps which all done by donations and funding. He cannot walk and uses a wheelchair. I need to find out if you can help me if there is any organization that can take his tub out and only have a shower. He is unable to get in the tub. My son is 49, he just had his fifth surgery on his leg. Thank you for any help you can give me. He lives in Yuma, Az

PT here. Is there auto insurance involved? The driver's insurance should pay for a many of his needs. Since it was a hit and run, did they find and charge the driver? Please get a PT and OT home evaluation and go from there. They can give you info on safe bathroom transfers, adaptive equipment, etc. I know your question is in regards to the cost. Maybe they would have recommendations on finding help also.
I would not recommend temporary fixes such as suction grab bars, as they are neither reliable nor safe.

Another thought. Is there any chance he can move to a handicapped accessable apartment with a roll in shower, altered sink and counter height as well as wide doorways.

Looks like Administration deleted one of the two and left this one.

We are a forum of Caregivers exchanging information from all over the Country. Your County should have a Disabilities dept where he may get help. There are tub bars too. The fit over the side of the tub. There are suction ones you can get for inside the shower. Should have a shower chair and a hand held shower head. For my friend I was able to find suction cup soap and cup holders to put on the wall at her level while sitting down.

Medicare pays for some of these things so does Medicaid and some insurance plans.
