I realise all most posts are kvetching and I'm not really a kvetching person in real life. I'm upbeat and positive most of the time. So let's celebrate our successes, all things great and small!
I did some side bends. I got down on my hands and knees and hand combed the shag area rug. I went to the drugstore even though it was the last thing I wanted to do and picked up allergy medicine.
All small things but I have been weaning off of an antidepressant and feel like ca ca so doing anything seems like an accomplishment right now.
Yesterday I made copies of my parents advanced directives (learned I should do that from this forum!), closed a bank account my parents have forgotten about, picked up a prescription for my husband, and washed my duvet!
I woke up today with a huge bite/welt/bruise on my hip. Worried it was a tick bite I got into the doctor. Wasted 2 hours to find out it’s just a bite. No biggie. Then baked 2 rhubarb pies to take up north to the 1000 Islands with us tomorrow (catching up on some deferred R&R we haven’t had in 3 years). And the window washers came and now we can see out of spotless windows. They gave me a tip to put rubbing alcohol and ammonia in the water. Said the rubbing alcohol will help rain and dirt sheet off better. Thought I’d pass that hint along. :-)
Yum! The two rhubarb pies, plus time in the 1000 islands sounds pretty good to me! Very glad the bug bite wasn't serious, hope you are enjoying your weekend. :)
Spent the morning catching up on some sleep 'cause I couldn't sleep last night. Then spent the afternoon on the phone, paying bills and calling different government agencies
Well, I've managed to keep my insulin pump/CGM quiet so far.....lol. I'm a Type I diabetic and have recently switched from injections to pump therapy. It's been a wild ride, so, to have a relatively normal day is a plus! Yesterday, I took my LO some new clothes, new pillow and shoes to the MC and chatted with her a bit. Today, just catching up on paperwork and returning phone calls. Any day there is no crisis is a great day for me.
I have been a swimmer for all of my life but it was something that was shelved for a while since I was taking care of my MIL. She passed away last fall so I am rediscovering my love of a long swim now.
I invested in a waterproof Ipod Shuffle so I can listen to books while I swim. We live near a lake and I take a long swim about once a week. I attach a red or yellow balloon (one of the punch balloons we played with as kids) to my suit so I am visible and have a floatation device if needed.
I have been working on building up my endurance and swam three miles earlier this week - something I haven't done before!
It feels wonderful to do something that is about me and only me (even if that sounds selfish). The swims are helping me rediscover myself after years of putting my MIL's needs first.
This weekend I cleaned the headlights on both my sister's car and my dad's wheelchair van with one of those headlight restoration kits they sell at the auto supply store. It worked great and it was so very satisfying buffing all the oxidation off and revealing beautiful clear headlights where there had been hazy lights before! Kind of addicting. Like being in an infomercial.
Now I am noticing the condition of the headlights of all the cars I see, including a few on our block that could use a bit of attention and I do actually still have some of special cleanser left. But of course I mustn't clean someone's headlights without permission. Mustn't . . .
Cleaning headlights is right up there with cleaning baseboards - I don't dare examine them for what I'll find! But there is something very satisfying about cleaning something that really needs it. :)

So glad your insulin pump is working out, that must be a good change from injections.
