Out of curiosity I've done some research on those random letter posts. This is a kind of spam that is passed around like a chain letter, primarily by kids. If you plug those letters into you tube you get videos... mindless, childish videos with millions of views, which just proves how prevalent the stupid things are.

Yep, cwillie, I confess I did count the postings... let's say my OCD had kicked in :)

I also saw where the Discussion thread on the forum home page isn't in order date wise. I let Admin know, and sent them a copy of what I was referring. Seemed odd that section had stopped sorting.

And oh goodie, another alphabet post.
Can they at least figure out a way that we can report the posts without having to comment on them? And then perhaps we could have reported posts be quarantined until vetted?

Well I stand corrected, we have a new member who has been very busy posting to multiple threads!

Have you noticed the discussion threads are not listed chronologically... another glitch?

And when I log in the site doesn't remember me any more so I have to type in all my info, a real p.i.t.a.

AmyGrace that is exactly the right analogy -- like old time prank phone calls. But in the old days, you could only annoy one person at a time.

Sad, isn't it, that some people have nothing better to do with their lives than anonymously disrupting total strangers. Reminds me of pre-teenagers making prank phone calls to a name they picked out of the phone book.

Sunny, you can create and discard online email accounts - gmail, hotmail, outlook etc - pretty easily.

80 posts this morning FF? Did you actually take the time to count LOL? Back to my original premise, if there was a system to flag and quarantine multiple posts from someone new it could cut down on some of that, most legit newbies are not making more than a couple of comments on the first day they sign up.

Good heavens, within the past 4 hours there were over 80 such new postings on the forum. Over 75 were from one person, who actually filled out the profile. And here it is around noon. Page after page after page. None of these telephone number postings make any sense at all.

I let Admin know about it, just scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on CONTRACT US... fill out the form.

Apparently the mothership must be running late and the coders are not happy :P

It really is annoying. I suppose that the minds who do it, aren't capable of realizing that they are taking up space and wasting the time of people who have a lot on their plate with real life issues and enormous pain. When viewing it in that light, it's even more absurd. Just more work on the Adm.

My question is, don't you have to have a valid email address to join? How do these imposters keep coming up with new email addresses day after day.  Eventually, wouldn't their addresses get blocked?

It works like a chain letter, "post his to 5 forums in 20 minutes or you will have bad luck" or some such thing. So you get all the little kids spreading the spam, basically harmless but almost impossible to prevent.

I haven't figured out the cut and paste phone number posts yet, but it could be the same kind of thing. It would explain why anyone would take the time to bother... they are only 10 years old with all the time in the world.

It doesn't make sense that such codes are here on this website. And I can't figure out why someone would post a HUGE posting of website telephone numbers.

And these writers are actually filling out the profiles.  Go figure.

Is there a mothership out there?
