I took my 93 yr old mother to visit family on Thanksgiving. I took 2-3 of us to get her into and out of my cousin's house. While my mother was so happy to be there w family etc. The next day when I called her she told me that she thinks the nursing home is the best place for her, etc. and she wants me to sell her co-op. This has been a sticking point as far as her wanting to go home and not wanting to part with her home. I can only assume this took a lot for her to say this to me. I’m shocked that she said all this. It takes a load off my mind. Thank you to all who responded to my questions all your answers helped me.

I’m glad your mother gained clarity about her situation. Act quickly before she has the chance to waver. Hoping this leads to more peace for you both

So awesome! I'm extremely happy for you.

Your story made me think about how my husband, his brother and our sons would go get his wheel-chair bound Mom from the LTC facility and carry her up the seep side hill of our house so she could enter at the main level (because to come in our entry level was a full flight of narrow stairs to the main middle floor). We did this several times and then she finally realized there was no way for her to use our tiny main floor bathroom in a wheelchair once she could not get up at all. I know it made her sad to come to this realization but she could not ignore the enormous effort it took to get her to our house. In the MN winter. In my van, which was NOT a conversion van. We don't regret it now that she passed a year ago this December.
