NBC news reports on woman taking turmeric and not making any connection with abdominal pain and darkening urine until she finally went to ER and found our she was near to needing a liver transplant because she poisoned hers with turmeric.
Please folks, if you are into vitamins and supplements, do educate yourself thoroughly on them, and pass your dosages past you MDs.These "medications" are not benign and CAN kill.

Alva it has always amused me that many of the people who take a lot of supplements say they do so because they are more natural and they don't trust "big pharma", yet the supplement industry is less regulated and probably much bigger that "big pharma" could ever hope to be.

Many, many Big Pharma medications come with more warnings than can fit on a 3 page insert, including death. No supplements that I know of come with warnings of death. Many doctors recommend Red Rice Yeast instead of statins to their patients with high cholesterol, including my friend! Perhaps it is the doctors recommending such supplements who should educate themselves as well?

When I first had my horrible toxic symptoms from immunotherapy, it was my son's chiropractor who said he knew "exactly what was wrong with me and what would cure it". He sold my son a $100+ bottle of liquid turmeric that only succeeded in turning my mouth and hands orange. It did nothing else. The chiropractor was "conveniently" selling this liquid turmeric from his office. 😑

Everyone taking supplements should educate themselves, imo. Some happen to be very useful and some not so much.

Geaton, given what happened to this woman, maybe a good thing you didn't think that the Turmeric helped the arthritis, and double the DOSE!!!!!!

Ya gotta use your head about these things, hubs wanted to try shark cartilage, for his joint pain, before he got sick. I just ignored him and he never pursued it. A long time ago, he tried horny goat weed, he got some nasty stomach cramps, after just a few days in it, he automatically stopped.

I don't do supplements, but I do try to heal things naturally before doctors, sometimes. Once on a Friday night , I got a horrible ear ache, so I put salt and rice in a sock and warmed it in the microwave, buy Monday, it was completely gone.

I do wonder if this women , also had a drinking issues, and that contributed to it. I know someone that over drinks and last I new was using tumeric for , I'm sorry can't remember, it's the arthritis that causes a rash too.
