I'm looking for an extremely easy to use universal TV remote. Something with big buttons and easy to read labels. Something appropriate for a dementia patient. Idea?

I surely haven't found one.
I hope you do so.
I would look up "elder friendly tech devices" online. I sure do wish you luck and hope a ton of people tell you a good deal more than I can.

Ha! Buy them a remote they can manage, and then they lose it! Later you find it in the fridge.

I had gotten a super basic remote for my mom which you can find on Amazon by searching “Flipper Big Button Universal TV Remote - Seniors, Elderly.” Then I taped the flap over the numeric keypad closed and wrote something like “green button for on/off,” and disabled the channel changing so she only had one TV channel (the one with her soap opera and favorite weather/newscast). As ultra-easy and impossible to mess up as could be achieved.

Someone still had to redo all her TV settings at least once per week when she managed to get them completely messed up!

Oddly enough, even at that point, she was still able to use the iPad to play solitaire and read Facebook.
