Is the weight loss cause for alarm? Or did she have a few extra pounds to start with?Is the weight loss very gradual or sudden?

My husband lost a great deal of weight when he developed dementia, even though he ate well. I dropped many pounds very suddenly when I developed diabetes. It is a good idea to mention this to her doctor.

Has anything else changed? How old is your grandma? Could she have developed diabetes? Has she started a new medication? Are her vitals good? Is she fatigued? Has she seen her dr? What diagnosed ailments does she have?
Give a little more info please?

Yvonne, the digestive tracts of elderly people often do not absorb nutrients as well as they once did. The body may also not metabolize them as efficiently. People often lose weight in their later years even if they eat well. Sometimes they can lose a few pounds, then stabilize at a new weight. If there is no new disease or infection, then it may just be something that goes with old age.
