Are you talking about Home Health, as prescribed by a physician? Or are you talking about Home Care, which is private pay and you just call a company and hire them. Either way, fire them, and hire another. When you signed the paperwork you were probably given information that tells you about the option to change companies. Ask your doctor's office for a referral, if you are a member of a support group, ask them. Ask the neighbors, physical therapists, anyone you come in contact with. Area on Aging for your county. Most companies have large service areas if you don't know of many local options. Oh, wait, I reread and see that you say the company is pulling out. For what reason? Are they going out of business or are they dropping your girl as a client? Has she reached the end of her care plan? Please give us some more information, and maybe you'll get more responses.

If you offer more information I am from Pennsylvania and I know how to navigate systems in the state. If she gets her caregivers from the Medicaid provided waiver program you can work with her Supports Coordinator to get a new agency or to resolve the concerns. If you work through a self paid agency you need to talk with the management. I am in Pittsburgh not near your area but I am well connected with care providers throughout the state and I could point you in the right direction. If she is on the Medicaid waiver program she can change her supports coordinator company. Casey Ball Supports Coordinatoion operates throughout the state if she is on any waiver program. They handle smaller caseloads and would be a great resource.

George, we need more information. You say "my girl", is she a child or a young adult, or an elder? What are her medical issues? What kind of support does she need? Is she self-pay or on Medicaid?

I live in FL. The home care you get depends on the Insurance you have. If your parent is on Medicare/Medicaid, it is the Medicaid provider you have chosen and the Home Care companies they work with. If you are getting a CNA, to come in, it can be good or a nightmare. Be very proactive, what do you want in the care provider. My first experience was a nightmare, I had a criminal, yes, con. She stole money (grand theft). Reported to police and Health Care Provider and I could not do anything about it. The Sheriff Department, stated that the law protects the criminals. I was not sure if I could try it again, BUT I need a break. Changed Home Care, they were totally different in processing and I learned to be pro active. I have someone I feel I can TRUST, and that is most important to me. My Mom, states that she likes her. All, I really care is that she just sits with my Mom; Mom is safe, I get my breaks and not get robbed.( And she does do other necessary caring needs.)

for medicaid waiver, the agency you chose calculates the amount of hours your loved one gets. You are free to choose the hours that work best for you but just make sure they have someone to provide those hours.
