I found the TV movie, Eunice, on Youtube and the ending, even though it is decades old, shows clearly that caregiving is often done through guilt, not love. The main character spends her middle age caring for a mother only to be faced with the fact she never really wanted to do that and was never appreciated for her sacrifices. Her mother was always insufferable, demeaning and demanding. All the other siblings left to live their own lives rather than be guilted into home care. If has far more rude language than I remembered from 1980s TV movies, but the ending is heart wrenching. How have you personally guarded against guilt trips when dealing with demanding, unreasonable elderly family members that you are responsible for?

Find Care & Housing
Is this the Carol Burnett movie or another?

Yes, that one. I had never seen it before, but came across it on Youtube recently. We watched the weekly show growing up.
