My drivers license is expiring and I don't drive any more. I can't find a way to get a photo ID without the humiliation of going to the photo license center.

Before Covid, I know that you could make an appointment to get either your driver's license or photo ID, so I would call your local DMV, and see if that is still an option. It is kind of weird that you can renew your driver's license online, but not get just a photo ID online. Since you're no longer driving, find a friend or family member to take you. It's really quite easy.

Humiliation?

Unlikely you can get a photo ID without having your photo taken.

My aunt had a non drivers ID card, good for far longer than a driver’s license. But she did have to go in person to get it. It was a quick process. Not sure why you have such dread in going to get one?

You can get this done in most pharmacy these days, but I would check if that is legal in terms of driver's license, as this is done generally for passports and such. Licenses are often used as legal ID and the DMV is very particular and the photo ID process goes along with fingerprinting, et al. Check with them if you are lucky enough to be able to reach them in your own city.

Why is that a humiliation?

I had one issued by the county in which I lived. Call your county and see if you can get one there.

I live in NJ. My grandson needed to update his ID (epilepsy) for a job. In NJ they are not renewing IDs online, he must go to the DMV. He has to wait till April for an appt at our local DMV. Problem with that is if the facility shuts down for COVID, he has to start all over getting his ID renewed.

Does PA send you a renewal reminder? NJ allowed me to renew by mail. If PA allows u to do this, then for now just renew your license. By the time you renew again, hopefully this virus will be under control.

Call DMV and see if they come out to your house.

I simply renewed online. Very easy. You don’t have to drive to get it. This is New York State.
