How to Get a Copy of a Medicaid Award Letter
Option 1: Contact Your Local Medicaid Office
Best choice if you need help right away or aren’t sure who handles your Medicaid.
You can find the office by searching “[State] Medicaid office” or visiting:
https://www.medicaid.gov/about-us/contact-us/contact-state-page.html
Ask specifically for a copy of the Medicaid Notice of Action or award/approval letter.
Option 2: Access Your
State’s Medicaid Online Portal
Many states offer online accounts where you can:
- View and download award letters
- Check your coverage
- Update your information

You will need to:
1. Go to your state’s Medicaid website
2. Log in or create an account
3. Look for a section like “Notices,” “Correspondence,” or “Benefits”
Option 3: Call Medicaid Customer Service
The number varies by state, but you can typically call the number on the back of your Medicaid card.
Ask the representative to mail or email a copy of your most recent Medicaid eligibility or award letter.

You should have a Medicaid caseworker assigned to you. That person should be able to get you a copy.
