I am a 55 year old mental health addiction therapist, and a single woman who does not have anyone in the Portland area that can help me with the parts and/or labor as I have recently become disabled. My car is a 2002 Lexus SC430 and the brakes went out on me and at the worst time ever.
I am in the process of leaving a violent relationship, where the ex took all of my funds out of my bank, while I am trying to move to a new location and into a new apartment, but as if the timing could not be any worse, my brakes went out on my car. (IT WILL NOT STOP when I push the brakes.) I was wondering if there is ANYONE who is willing to help me with putting brake pads on my car because I have no funds available to pay for any repairs right now, or have any suggestions for me.
I am sorry for your troubles. Look local.
You can also start calling local churches to see if anyone in their congregation is a mechanic. We had a man in ours who owned a small auto repair shop and he often did pro-bono and discounted work.
You can also search online for non-profits who help women escaping abuse, maybe even women's shelters for guidance.
I'm so sorry for this distressing situation. May you receive all the help you need, wisdom, and peace in your heart as you heal from the abuse.
