There was no will. How can I find out exactly how much was wired as sister is withholding funds. Somehow my middle sister got her name on the account and I was only informed accidentally 2 mnths after her passing. I know what should've been deposited from my uncle as it was my mom's inheritance from her mom's home. I know I am being lied to and my father was never told about this account or money. He has been in nursing home prior to my moms unexpected passing.

If your mother died without a will, then someone needs to go to the probate court and be appointed as the personal representative to handle her estate. Her money and assets will then be distributed according to the law for estates without a will.

Depending on the state law, your father and you and your sisters will presumably each get a percentage of whatever she had. However, if she held her accounts jointly with your father, the money that went into the account may belong to him. Is your sister a joint owner of the account with your mother, or was she just an authorized user who could write the checks for your mother? Is your father a joint owner of this account?

The key thing is to go to the probate court now so that someone will be appointed to handle the estate, since there was no will. That person will be responsible for creating an inventory of all of the assets your mother owned at the time of her death, including the money that was wired from the sale of her mother's home.

If the inheritance your mother received was from your grandmother's probated will you can request a copy, probated wills are public record. That's neither here nor there though if you're looking for a "share" of her inheritance. It sounds like your mom put her inheritance into an account with your sister? Legally you do not have to share an inheritance with a spouse (your dad?) and can keep it separate. Assuming the shared account between sister and mom was opened with your mom's permission then the money is where mom wanted it and sister doesn't have to give any to anyone.
