"Yes, Medicare generally covers necessary batteries for portable oxygen concentrators (POCs) as part of the rental agreement. As part of oxygen equipment rental under Medicare Part B, necessary accessories—including batteries, tubing, and chargers—are covered if they are deemed medically necessary."

Note the word rent. Medicare rents these for you. If you outright own one, Medicare may not cover the battery. If your not on Medicare, then try your insurance company.

These concentrators only last so many hours on a charge. In between you either have an extra battery while the other is recharging or back up oxygen. My Mom was given a tank but that was 10 yrs ago.

For power outages, you will need to go to a shelter with power. It is best to know ahead of time who to contact. First ask your local senior social services. Next you would call your state department of public health for a phone number if there is a natural disaster. If you find yourself in an acute situation, you go to the ER. I have worked in one state that had a rare ice storm. Some patients sheltered as inpatients. The ER social worker will either find a shelter/ facility for you. You can also be admitted just for oxygen need. Be proactive first by finding thw apprpriate phone numbers, but do not forget tbat you can go to the hospital
