Mom-diagnosed with mixed Alz & Vascular dementia since Oct 2022 long time waiting from Memory clinic due to back log of appointments from pandemic she had TIA Ashemic small vessel Stroke that showed on her MRI March 2022 when she blacked out in the kitchen a minute or so infront if mecan her diagnosis be wrong ?& its just Alzheimer's? Shes 4yrs in now from March 2022 kitchen incident - loss of mobility & double iincontinent since Oct 2024 - now totally bed bound Speaks alittle, low appetite does not feed herself, I do it for her abd encourage her drinks she does not pick up 2 handled sippy cups unless promted.Im soul daughter care giver since Jan 2021 when dad passed from brain tumour , Sister wasn't there when dad passed on in the pandemic.WILL is split down middle, unfair when 1 sibling takes it all on but thats not my question & know many families in my situation.Could her diagnosis be wrong? her mom my nan just had Alzheimers lived till she was 87 moms 80 next February. Do you think it is Mixed Alz and Vascular dementia from what Ive written? we lost mother-in-law to dementia Aug 2023, its been a stressful 5 years since Dad passed only saving grace my husband is my rock I was there for him with his mom hes here for me but he works full time all week so his help is at wkends. .
With your mom now being bedbound though and not eating much it may be time to bring hospice on board. You can call the hospice of your choice and they will come out and do an assessment on your mom to see if she qualifies. They are available 24/7 so I would be calling them sooner than later.
