While in Assited living a sister entered her locked home stole a burial plot she bought for me 20 yrs ago.
A brother sold the plot because he hates me. I want him convicted. Mom has enough money for the rest of her life this was cruel to our mother. Do I need a lawyer?
I would speak directly to your mother’s court appointed guardian or hire your own attorney.
Time for you to get an "Elder Law Attorney" to see what recommendations he/she has regarding these issues..
Edit: Tacy, I just saw your post. You were thinking the exact same thing. Hope this and other writers had written will convince Helen to get an attorney.
You moved mom from AL to your home? Who is guardian? Was that person aware that you were moving mom? Without that person's consent, yes you will need a lawyer.
I doubt a lawyer would take a case over a sold plot. It would cost much more in attorney's fees to resolve this than the value of the plot.
Is there a transfer of deed, that you have seen, for the plot? Have you checked with the cemetery to verify ownership has been transferred?

My question, Helen, who told you about all these things? I doubt your siblings would confess to selling a cemetery plot. I was wondering if you are hearing these things from your Mom? If yes, don't forget, with dementia it isn't unusual for patients to make up stories. Just wondering.
Only knows the small details told her.
