Can anyone help with senior center resources as to where a senior can live with very little income? She has been living in her RV for years. But now this situation will not work anymore as the vehical needs an overhail and she has no money to repair it. She literally could be homeless without her RV. Her health for her age seems fine but I do not know for certain. In the Dallas TX metroplex.

Find Care & Housing
Have her call your Area Agency on Aging and see what resources they can advise her of.

The Elder Abuse hotline might respond to a vulnerable elder. The extreme heat may be a factor they can act on to help her find shelter.

Most if not all cities have low income senior apartments but there's usually a several year waiting list so best she apply now.
She can contact Senior Services or Area Agency on Aging for other options or with help getting on the waiting list for senior housing.

Is this neighbor a senior? Respectfully, this isn't a caregiving-related question.

Nonetheless, here is some info:

As others have suggested, contact the Area Agency on Aging and the Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) and tell them she is an (older?) adult at imminent risk of homelessness because her RV is becoming uninhabitable. Ask specifically for help locating income-based senior housing, HUD Section 202 housing, public housing and any emergency/bridge housing available while she waits for permanent housing.

Dallas actually has senior apartments where eligible residents pay approximately 30% of their income. The City of Dallas senior-housing guide lists properties such as Audelia Manor and Buckeye Senior Living at 30% of income, and Casa Trevino is a HUD Section 202 property for people 62+ where no separate housing voucher is required. Unfortunately, affordable senior housing frequently has waiting lists, so she should get applications going immediately rather than waiting until the RV actually fails.

If she's in Dallas County, I'd call the Dallas Area Agency On Aging at 214-871-5065. They serve people 60+ and provide benefits counseling and care coordination and can connect her with other community resources. I would also contact the Dallas County Aging & Disability Resource Center at 1-888-743-1202. The ADRC specifically provides housing information and one-on-one options counseling, and importantly, a neighbor is allowed to call on someone's behalf.

If the RV becomes unusable before housing is found, call the Dallas-area Homeless Crisis Helpline at 1-888-411-6802. There is also Dallas Life, which has a program specifically for homeless seniors designed to help them eventually obtain affordable permanent housing.

Most importantly, don't assume that because she has almost no money there is nowhere for her to live. Very low income may actually make her eligible for housing programs specifically designed for this situation. The problem is usually availability and waiting lists, so she needs to start the process now.

Also tell the her to gather her photo ID, Social Security card, Social Security/pension award letters, bank statements and proof of any other income, the kinds of documents housing programs will eventually require; Dallas Housing, for example, requires identification, Social Security documentation and income/asset verification when an applicant reaches the eligibility stage.

One other Dallas resource worth knowing about is Shared Housing Center. It specifically serves homeless or near-homeless older adults and can provide an alternative when a conventional subsidized apartment isn't immediately available.
