Mom doesn't sleep at night and not even during the day. She writes all the time, supposedly her life story. She is constantly saying that God is talking to her and that he told her that she needs to write. She is always praying and reading the bible. She is also very confused at times and she says that her time is coming and she needs to hurry up. I need help trying to understand what really happened to her. Please reply.

Iris,
What did they ER say about her condition?

Have you taken her to her Primary Doctor?

If not, that would be the place for a diagnosis, and possibly some medical help.

Give us some more details, if you can.

From reading your profile I’d say to let mom be. Let her be awake when she wants and sleep when she wants, you likely aren’t going to change her behaviors. Stop fussing over her. That said, make sure her medical evaluation is current and her doctor is aware of her behavior

Often a sign of mental illness when religiosity turns to voices directed at one. This could be anything but I think you are aware that none of us on a public Forum would be able to diagnose your Mom. She needs to be diagnosed by a professional. Please see your Mom's MD with her to find out what referrals he recommends after he rules out physical causes such as UTI and vitamin insufficiencies. Wishing you the best.

In your profile, you say: "It is getting very hard on me because I am not being able to sleep either, because I has an scare three days ago, I couldn't wake her up and have to call ambulance." What happened? Did the ambulance take mom to the ER, and if so, what did the doctor say at the ER?

Mac is right; this sounds like bi-polar behavior in its manic phase. She also could be having a psychotic break, you just don't know. She could also BE dying and living out her final days now, trying to get this writing job accomplished. There's just no way to know.

We here on the forum cannot possibly do anything but speculate about what's happening to your mother. She needs to have a full medical work up and evaluation ASAP!

I hope you are able to get her in to see her PCP right away!
