My father has a terminal disease called Huntington’s disease and I’ve been taking care of him for 6 years after my mom died. Recently, I took him over to his cousin's house and now all of a sudden they don’t want him back with me, they want to become his payee and everything legal, which means they want him to stay with them so they can take his money; he legally cannot make his own decisions on money so does anyone know what I can do legally?

Agree with NeedsHelpWithMom. Call APS and report as Senior in trouble. You need help getting guardianship now or this could be a problem ongoing. It is too late to be made POA; APS may help you find a Social Services/Social Worker to apply for emergency guardianship. Do know if this comes to a family court fight it will be both expensive, and liable to end in the State taking guardianship. IF you suspect abusive and illegal taking of your Dad's money, then guardianship by the state may be a GOOD and protective thing for your father. Contact APS today with all your information right at hand.

Didn’t you ask this on another thread? Didn’t you allow him to see these cousins that he hadn’t seen in ages? Didn’t you say that they were never there for him? Is this the same poster?

You will have to have APS investigate the matter.

Maybe hire a private investigator to see what he/she can find out on this situation. Or hire an elder care attorney.

I hope it works out for you and you and your dad are reunited.

Good luck to you.
